These people on yahoo answers are nuts, heres the cheap homemade hamster food, and foods safe/not safe for your hamster

Homemade, yummy, cheap food for your hamster (my hamsters love it)
It depends home much food you intend on making, so i didnt put measurements. Keep in a ziploc bag and it will last for about 2 months.
>Raisins
>Unsalted sunflower seeds
> Oatmeal (uncooked)
>Dried corn
> Wheat
>Dried split peas and lentils
>Yogurt cover timothy hay tots ( you can get them at target for about $3.49 for a small bag)
>Uncooked rice
>Dried blueberries and cranberries
>Oven dried bread pieces
> Any kind of roasted nuts

Foods that are safe for your hamster
Apples, Grapes, Strawberries, Bananas, Lettuce(iceberg), Sunflower seeds, Blueberries, Meadow hay, Tomatoes, Carrots, Meal worms, White bread, Cauliflower, Cooked meat, Yogurt, Chicken, Pasta, Corn, Potatoes, Cottage Cheese, Raspberries, Cooked egg whites, Rice, Cooked fish, Sprouts.

Foods that are bad for your hamster
Canned and frozen veggie, uncooked beans, the green parts of potatoes and tomatoes, sprouting potatoes, fried foods, table scraps, sweets of any kind.
